1.Be Respectful
Treat others with respect. Do not harass, bully, threaten, demean, or intimidate anyone. Argue with ideas, not people: disagreement, criticism, and rigorous review are welcome; personal attacks are not.
2.Zero Tolerance for Objectionable Content
The following are strictly prohibited and will be removed, with accounts subject to immediate suspension or termination: hate speech or content that attacks or dehumanizes people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or other protected characteristics; harassment, bullying, threats, or incitement of violence; sexually explicit content, nudity, or pornography; child sexual abuse material or any sexualization of minors, which we report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and other authorities without exception; graphic violence or gore; content promoting self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders; and content that is unlawful, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable.
3.No Illegal or Dangerous Activity
Do not use Colabs to facilitate illegal activity, including the sale of illegal drugs, weapons, or stolen goods; human trafficking or exploitation; fraud or scams; or the organization of dangerous or unlawful acts. Do not solicit or promote commercial sex. Do not share instructions that would give meaningful help to someone trying to cause mass harm — for example, with weapons or dangerous pathogens — or share export-controlled technical data.
4.Research Integrity
Research on Colabs is only useful if it is honest. Do not fabricate, falsify, or selectively report data or results; do not plagiarize or pass off others’ work as your own; give credit to collaborators and cite what you build on; do not write fake, coordinated, or retaliatory reviews, or review your own work under another account; do not manipulate citations, reactions, or rankings; and disclose conflicts of interest when you review or endorse something. Reviews that raise concerns must be about the work and stick to facts you can support.
5.Ideas, Confidentiality, and Other People’s Rights
Ideas and discussions on Colabs are public. Do not post trade secrets, anything you are obligated to keep confidential, your employer’s intellectual property without permission, or anything you intend to patent. Only share content you have the right to share, and respect the licenses others attach to their work.
6.No Spam, Scams, or Manipulation
Do not post spam, run scams or phishing, engage in deceptive or fraudulent conduct, artificially inflate engagement, or use bots or automated means to access or manipulate the Platform. Do not solicit money or personal or financial information from other users under false pretences. Do not file false reports or coordinate reporting to get content you disagree with removed.
7.Authenticity and Impersonation
Be yourself. Do not impersonate other people, brands, or organizations, create fake or misleading profiles, or misrepresent your identity, age, affiliation, credentials, or qualifications. Do not offer services that require a professional license you do not hold. You must be 18 or older to use Colabs.
8.Privacy and Consent
Respect others’ privacy. Do not share anyone’s private or personal information without their consent ("doxxing"), post intimate images without consent, or record or share private communications without permission. Do not publish data about people — including research data from human participants — without the consent and approvals it requires. Do not try to find out who has joined a sensitive Field, or where another member lives.
9.Safety When Meeting and Working In Person
Colabs does not organize, supervise, or inspect any in-person activity, and your safety is your responsibility. Meet in public places, tell someone where you are going, do not share sensitive personal or financial information, and trust your instincts. Colabs does not conduct background checks, and no badge, including the Premium check, is identity verification. Organizers of civic and in-person projects are responsible for any permits, landowner permission, insurance, and safety measures their project needs. If you feel unsafe, leave and contact local authorities.
10.Minors
Colabs is for adults. Do not use Colabs to organize, promote, or recruit for activities in which minors take part unless you are acting for an organization responsible for safeguarding them and you follow every safeguarding rule that applies, including background checks, supervision, and parental consent. Never use Colabs to contact a minor.
11.Not for Emergencies
Colabs is not an emergency service and does not pass reports to authorities. Posting about a hazard or a crime in a Community does not report it. If someone is in danger, contact your local emergency number first.
12.Owners and Moderators
Project owners and Field or Community moderators help keep their spaces on track, and they must apply these Guidelines fairly. They are users, not Colabs staff, and they may not use their role to harass, retaliate, or remove content for reasons unrelated to these Guidelines. Colabs can review and reverse their decisions.
13.Reporting and Blocking
You can report content or users, and block users, directly in the app. Reporting sends the content and context to our safety team; blocking is designed to stop that user from contacting you and to hide your activity from them, though no tool is perfect — see "Safety Tools Have Limits" in the Terms of Service. You can also email safety@colabs.ai with urgent safety concerns or to report illegal content. Please report anything that violates these Guidelines — reports help keep the community safe, and we do not tolerate retaliation for good-faith reports.
14.How We Enforce
We review reports of objectionable content and abusive behavior and aim to act on them within 24 hours; this is a goal, not a guarantee. We use a combination of user reports, automated tools, and human review; automated tools may hide content until a person reviews it. Actions may include removing or hiding content, limiting features, ejecting or banning the offending user, and reporting to law enforcement where appropriate. We may filter, remove, or restrict content and suspend, restrict, or permanently delete accounts, in our discretion. Serious or repeated violations may result in permanent removal. We are not obligated to monitor content, and a decision not to act does not mean we endorse the content. We do not screen users, projects, or tasks before they appear, and we cannot review everything that is posted. That something is on Colabs, or is still up after being reported, does not mean we have reviewed or approved it. Use your own judgment, and report anything that looks wrong.
15.Appeals
If we remove your content or restrict your account and you think we got it wrong, you can appeal in the app where available, or email safety@colabs.ai with the details. A person will review your appeal.
